The objective of the project is to empower students with knowledge on diverse environmental problems and use this awareness to awaken their dormant potentials to initiate eco-friendly actions in their daily life.
First stage of project: CREATING ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS– Students were brainstormed on the topic using powerpoint and Mouse Mischief in classrooms. Besides, students used online learning resources on Youtube. In addition, they used Webquest and Bing to research on environment. Knowledge was also constructed through synchronous communication on Skype/Facebook from home as well as asynchronous communication on wiki/online-forum/e-mail.
Second stage of project: ACTIONS FOR ENVIRONMENT– Students worked in groups for proposing, designing and implementing a series action plans namely: 1)awareness campaigns at school/home/community level using movies on YouTube, posters and brochures; 2)waste segregation for recycling, collection of e-waste, planting trees for going green, 3) survey and historical analysis of water and electricity consumption at school and at home and subsequently taking appropriate measures for minimisation.
Third stage of project: EMPOWERMENT THROUGH GLOBAL COLLABORATION - students designed games containing moral values on environment using Kodu and sent them to global partners in Asia for feedback and improvement. They also shared their regional environmental problems through blogging and exchange of photos on environment.
