Learning activity details
The basic aim of the project is making stop motion animations for all school subjects in primary education (we made animation for 12 subjects). This proves that stop motion animation is adaptive to all school subjects, age and levels. Animations depicting themes from students everyday life were carefully planed and created to be interwoven in the school program.
AIMS and learning outcomes:
Unique use of stop motion animation in education on imaginative, innovative and creative way.
Revolutionary new working method sustainable and very rich in potential incorporating all the subject matter from the curriculum.
Students everyday life is brought in the rural setting, all related with the curriculum context (animation on visit to the local farm correlated with specifics curriculum content)
An opportunity for a Multi-model of teaching and learning adaptive to more than one style of learning and teaching outcome (e.g. one video =multi purpose including storytelling, quizzes, interactive lesson, feedback on learning outcomes , competition.
Examples of how to use stop motion animations in the class
Developing critical thinking and vital skills for practical and meaningful learning, raising awareness for the active students ‘ role in the learning process.
The main benefit from the project is the active role of the students in making the animations. They used inanimate objects which were brought to life via stop motion animation. This type of animation is introduced in Macedonian education for the first time . While making animation students learned the targeted subject matter while building and enforcing the 21st century skills. This proved to be fun and very stimulating for the students. The students could take a look at what they had photographed prior to computer processing which added to their interest and motivation and encouraged them to modify, change and adapt.
