Learning activity details

Journey around the World is the project in which the main focus is on changes in teaching methods of students. Activities related to the project are to contribute to the creation of a new quality of education, resulting from the integration of traditional teaching methods, with particular emphasis on methods of problem and with modern techological achevements (e-learning platforms).
The use of active learning methods in education assisted by information technology inspire students to seek unconventional solutions, promotes efforts to act independently, leading in effect to acquire the necessary experience in dealing with problem situations.
The application of platform makes that time and space constraints are reduced to a minimum. The distance learning also allows both students with mobility difficulties and students with a long time school absence (for a variety of reasons) to participate in the project.
The project involves students in grades IV - VI who are participating on a voluntary basis. The project involves student teams of three persons (in the 2010/2011 school year 23 teams were involved). The teams may include students from different age groups.
Educational game is about doing by student teams task of various subjects placed by the project coordinator on the educational platform. Each week students (teams) have to perform three tasks prepared by teachers voluntarily supporting the project activities (18 teachers from Primary School No. 1 in Choszczno who are involved voluntarily in the project). Particular emphasis was placed on the preparation and application of interdisciplinary tasks in the project.
Each team participated in 20 stages of the journey (three tasks for 20 weeks). An additional task for the teams was to create a blog with a virtual tour.
Three teams that won the most points went to the finals of the competition. The first final was held in mid-May 2011. The teams were solving tests using INTERACTIVE set. Test concerned the contents that the students encountered during the virtual journey. The prize for winning the first place was a trip to Tropical Island in Berlin.
