How do educators and school leaders prepare themselves, their classrooms, and their school communities for an environment that enables learners to be skilled and ready to meet the demands of our world today? Do these needs differ depending on where you live and/or work? As a leader and educator – what are the key things you should be thinking about and how do you get started? In this panel discussion, questions will be addressed on how to effectively build skills and capacity in educators to help ensure learning not only becomes more meaningful but also improves the skills of students today.

Cheri Sterman Crayola Director, Education and Consumer Relationships cheri Cheri leads the Crayola Education Department where her team helps others understand creativity and build Creative Leadership Teams within schools. She translates research and best practices into Art Infused Education resources.

Kathleen Schwille Vice President of Educational Design and Development at National Geographic. ngs She oversees educational programs about the environment and conservation, culture and geography that make use of NG’s storytelling and media to inspire young people to care about the planet. NG has a special focus on getting students outdoors where they can directly experience their world, collect data, participate in their communities, and share their stories.

Heath Silverman International business lead for Edmodo Heath Headshot Heath joined Edmodo in January 2013 bringing extensive experience in global business strategy. Previously, Heath spent five years at Intel, with the last three in the company’s education vertical where he established and executed the education services strategy.

Cheryl Douglas Biology teacher cheryl Cheryl is a biology teacher at Bishops, an independent boys' school in Cape Town where she runs a Global Issues Network group. She is also the Programme Director of an NGO, the Teaching Biology Project (www.teachingbiologyproject.org.za) involved in teacher professional development and ICT integration.
